The Winckelmann Lab is a study and research group on the work of Johann Joachim Winckelmann and, more broadly, on European classical-romantic culture. The Winckelmann Lab also participates, in collaboration with the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität of Bonn, in the organization of the "Giornate Italo-Tedesche" (Italian-German Days), which enrich the educational and scientific aspects of the international bilateral curricula with the double title "Studi Italo-Tedeschi" of the three-year and master's degree courses in languages at the University of Florence. The Laboratory also intends to extend the field of research to the modern reception of classicism and classical aesthetics, as well as reflections on contemporary aesthetics; it is open to all scholars interested in research on J.J. Winckelmann, but also to writers and artists who make constant reference to this historical experience in various ways.
