The Corpus and Linguistic Variation In English Research (CLAVIER) unit is an inter-university research center made up of participants from the Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Florence, Milan, Modena and Reggio Emilia, Rome "La Sapienza", Siena, and Trieste, with headquarters in Modena. The methodological approach favors two research areas in the field of linguistics - corpus analysis and discourse analysis - with the aim of examining linguistic changes in English, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Analyses of linguistic variation mostly address diachronic, geographic, and socio-cultural dimensions.
